WHAT IS EOP?
The EOP Summer Bridge Program is a great experience! I met new people and got some good advice to start off. They helped me figure out how I can meet my financial gap and get help with tutoring. They also helped me choose my classes. I'm thankful I got accepted into this program!" The Educational Opportunity Program, EOP, is designed to support low income students through college. It is simliar to a College Is Real program but at the college level.
Each campus has its own EOP program with its own services. EOP may provide extra programs during the summer before college to help students with the transition to college, extra services on campus during the school year, access to a network of similar students, and additional financial assistance. All CIR students should apply to the EOP programs at the colleges to which they have applied. Each college has its own EOP application and deadline. For the CSU EOP programs, you will need to write responses to a series of questions. Be thoughtful and thorough with your responses and be careful to use appropriate grammar and punctuation. Ask someone to review your responses and give you feedback. Start on the process early to allow yourself time to complete the forms to the best of your ability. EOP programs are looking for students who have academic potential and are motivated to work hard to succeed, but may not have had opportunities because of their background. They will take into account such factors as historically disadvantaged background, financial need, academic performance, motivation, and potential for success in college. The committee may also look for any contributions that you have made or intend to make to your community, work experience, or the career you wish to pursue. You will also need to submit two forms from teachers or other adults. Review information about Letters of Recommendation for more. You will need to supply financial information on the application. Make sure you have gathered all the materials needed as specified on College Finance Basics. |
